Testing new cutting die

I received this beautiful feather and bird die today and couldn't wait to try it.  It cut beautifully on a inked background that was on my desk waiting to be used.  I inlaid the birds with black cardstock to make them "pop" a little.  Not bad for a test run, but I think this will be wonderful in soft pastel/neutral tones.

Hope you have time to craft today, enjoy

Floating 80th birthday card

This is one of my "go to" card techniques when I need a special card in a hurry.  Using my large letter alphabet dies, I cut out each letters at least 3 times, for stability.  The card front is cut leaving a gap in the middle, to allow the letters to join the card back together again.

Photo shows the card closed

This photo shows the card open, and you can see how the letters seem to float.

Male cards

I am always running short on cards for the male members of my family, so last weekend I completed three.  Need a lot more, but at least I have started.

Two cards have been made using Kaisercraft Factory 42 papers and collectibles.

And the last card used Kaisercraft Mountain Air paper and collectibles.

I have had a request to make a 80th birthday card with a fishing theme, fingers crossed I can get it done this weekend.  With the Easter and school holidays it has been a busy time, and very little time to craft.

Kaisercraft Whisper Cards

I started off the base of these cards using instructions from Alicia McNamara from Papercraft Secrets, link here,  however I ended up adding my own spin to a lot of the cards.  Here are two of the cards I made, and I did make the total of ten cards.  Love the neutral colours in this collection

I will show the remaining cards in the next few days, they still need to have the inserts finished.
Hope you are having a crafty week

Weekend papercraft retreat

I had a lovely weekend at a papercraft retreat.  I made a lot of cards, well I think it was only 12 but that is still a good start.  I also played with my inks and watercolours which I will show you over the next few days.

I have made two 70th birthday cards, both for the same guy...so I had to made them with different themes.

I am happy with how they turned out.

The card on the left is a quick easel card, using Kaisercraft Barber Shoppe papers and the one on the right was stamped using Darkroom Door Golfer stamp and them lightly inked with Distress Oxide Inks.

Lady with Poodle card

This card was made for a friend who was celebrating her 60th birthday.  She has a miniature black poodle, so I thought it was appropriate.

I have a papercraft workshop this weekend, so I hope to be able to share a lot of my makes.  It is always such fun to catch up with friends, with lots of laughter, food and creative ideas being shared.

Guess who is back?

It is nearly two years since my last post, and boy has a lot happened in that time.  I have retired, yippee..closed my online store and business, battled a couple of health problems, but now am ready to come back to my blog and continue my crafts.

Card making is still my passion at the moment, but I was gifted a lot of half finished quilts, so I will be looking forward to getting back to the sewing machine and finishing those off.

My pup Cindy is now three years old, and is still the love of my life.

I have just gifted a paper craft cup & saucer filled with chocolates to a elderly friend for her birthday, she just turned 87.  The instructions for both the tea cup and the gift box was from Mixed Up Crafts.

I hope to continue to update the blog more frequently now... be prepared to see a lot of my cards.
